Kyanite is an island-structured silicate mineral belonging to the triclinic crystal system. Its crystals often appear as flat tabular or columnar shapes, with visible twinning, and sometimes form radial aggregates. It exhibits distinct anisotropy with a Mohs hardness of 4.5 along the horizontal direction and 6 vertically, hence the alias "Disthene."    Mainly mined in Brazil, India, and other regions, kyanite is a gemstone shrouded in mystery.
